Los Amigos Invisibles Return to Miami Beach Bandshell
It’s odd that the three articles I’ve had published by Miami New Times have all been about music/concerts. Mainly odd just because the music scene is not something that I’ve ever consciously attempted to be an active participant in. Don’t get me wrong, I have a great appreciation for music, whether it’s live performances, the soundtrack in films, or attempting to make mediocrity myself on instruments. But I don’t have much technical or critical background informing my writing on the subject.
I guess I’m learning that it’s more important to consistently put in the work around pursuing your passion and don’t get hung up on the specific forms it takes. You can be self-aware and take note of what and how you’re bringing to life, and certainly put some thought into whether what you’re doing is fulfilling and bringing you closer to your long term goals. But also sometimes just try something and see if you can do it. And then at least you know it’s an option, and maybe you find new ways to incorporate the skills you’ve learned into other applications. Plus it’s been cool getting to talk one on one with musicians that I’ve admired because of these opportunities.
