We envisioned and orchestrated an engaging activation for Bat Conservation International, a global nonprofit dedicated to conserving the world’s bats and their ecosystems to ensure a healthy planet. The activation aimed to garner community support ahead of a crucial city hearing to oppose a developer threatening land vital to the rare endangered Florida Bonneted Bat, native to Florida.
As part of HistoryMiami’s annual Culturefest 305 event, we created a bat scavenger hunt to raise awareness and support. Our team handled all aspects of design and event production, including creating and placing acrylic bat cutouts throughout the museum on the day of the event. We provided photos of the activation, coloring sheets, and cut-out bat masks for children. Additionally, we hired David Lavernia, a local artist, to live-paint a conservation-themed artwork during the event, which will be auctioned off to benefit Bat Conservation International’s mission.
This activation not only engaged the community in a fun and educational way but also highlighted the importance of bat conservation and rallied support for the upcoming hearing.
