Rachel Goodrich: A Girl And Her Guitar
Writing about Rachel Goodrich for the Miami New Times feels like the perfect full-circle moment in my relationship with her music. From that first rainy night in Wynwood in 2010 when I stood among strangers shaking toy maracas, to now getting to share her story with readers, the journey spans over a decade of my life. Her albums have served as soundtracks to pivotal moments for me – relationships beginning and ending, life-changing decisions, and many less dramatic moments in between. There’s something uniquely powerful about following an artist’s evolution from the position of an admiring fan to eventually sitting across from them, as a friend, and also someone with a platform to share your perspective of them with others. I also got the chance to do an impromptu photoshoot with her after our conversation, some of the photos from that below. This article isn’t just about Rachel’s musical journey (though it is mostly that), it’s a small and inconspicuous nod to how art connects us across time and circumstance.
