The Homogenization Of Individuality
You’ve probably noticed it too. The way we all seem to be expressing our uniqueness in remarkably similar ways. Personal brands that feel like they were built from the same template. Even our rebellion looks more and more like everyone else’s rebellion.
It’s tough when we want to stand out, but fitting in is hardwired into us. Walking that line between the two isn’t easy.
Maybe the real difference isn’t in what we choose to show, but in what we choose to keep to ourselves. Maybe it’s in the moments we don’t document, the thoughts we don’t tweet, the parts of ourselves we let exist without an audience.
Not because there’s anything wrong with sharing, but because some things are worth protecting from the noise.
