Passing the Torch

Passing the Torch

Last Thursday, we hosted Art Club Forever at Yo Space. It wasn’t my event, it was produced by a younger crew doing exactly what I was doing a decade ago: bringing people together around art, music, and shared vibes. The energy was great. A full room, people connecting, the space buzzing again.

It reminded me how much I love what that place can be. It also reminded me that I’m not the new kid anymore.

There’s something special about watching a new generation step into their moment. I felt proud, a little nostalgic, and slightly protective all at once. Minor hiccups (like someone tagging up my and the neighbor’s dumpster) didn’t change the fact that it was a success.

It’s a weird stage to be in. I’m still building. Still hungry. But I’m also learning to let go in certain ways. To support without hovering. To guide without gatekeeping. There’s no manual for when or how to pass the torch, but there’s real beauty in doing it with intention.
